Cloudways review: managed cloud hosting when a shared plan is too small

By the Hosstec teamOctober 22, 20265 min read

How Cloudways pricing works, which cloud providers you can choose, and who should pick it over shared hosting.

Cloudways is not shared hosting. You get your own cloud server, from a provider you pick, and Cloudways manages it for you.

What you choose

  • The cloud underneath: DigitalOcean, Vultr, Linode, AWS or Google Cloud.
  • The server size. The smallest plan listed on the pricing page is $11 a month: 2 GB RAM, 1 vCPU, 50 GB storage and 2 TB transfer.
  • Billing by the hour, from $0.0357 per hour on that plan.
  • Unlimited websites on the server.

Two product lines

Cloudways Flexible gives full control over server size and cloud. Cloudways Autonomous is a hands-off WordPress option that scales for busy shops and course sites.

Who it suits

Choose it when a shared plan has become slow, when you run WooCommerce, Laravel or a custom app, or when you want to move up a size without a migration. It costs more than a first shared plan, so it is a poor pick for a five-page brochure site.

Prices were checked on each company's own website on October 22, 2026. Introductory prices, renewal prices and plan limits change often, so confirm them on the plan page before you pay. Hosstec is our own store. Some links on this page are partner links and cost you nothing extra.
